Renovate, upgrade, and improve existing school buildings.

Renovate and upgrade existing school buildings

Renovation and upgrades at the existing high school campus include plans to replace and update heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical, and lighting systems; PCB removal; safety and security improvements; technology upgrades; and upgrades to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Upgrading Ashland Middle School includes plans to update HVAC and lighting systems; PCB removal; safety and security improvements; technology upgrades, and upgrades to meet ADA requirements.

The levy to pay the last Ashland School District bond that passed in 1996 will expire in 2007. If approved, the levy to pay this new bond is intended to replace the expiring one. The bond principal amount cannot exceed $46.8 million. Bond proceeds can only be used for costs associated with completing the projects listed on the ballot. The estimated cost to property owners would be approximately $2.00 per $1,000 of assessed value per year over the life of the 12-year bond. For the owner of a home in Ashland assessed at $250,000, the bond would cost approximately $500 per year. Rates could vary depending on interest rates and growth in the District’s total assessed valuation.*
